We want to make Math learning fun for you and your kids so let us help you design math number games that can be enjoyed by everyone. Remember that when your kids have fun learning and enjoying these games they will be stimulated to play the games over and over again thus spending time developing important math skills.
There are some games that you can invent or re-invent. Games that you enjoy when you were a kid can be re-invented by modifying the rules to make them a family game or make them into a board game. Here are some old games that you and I played a long time ago which you can introduce to your kids:
Link the Dots Game. The object of the game is for a player to link a set of dots to create a square and with every square you create you can own it by putting your initial. The number of squares that have been completed will then be counted for each player. Each player will also have to try as much as possible to block the other player from completing a square.
Numbers Scrabble. The whole family can also play a numbers scrabble game. Using the standard scrabble board, letters and even the rules you will just need to add the rule that only numbers in words will be allowed to be put on the board.
Match-the-Hole game. From scrap styrofoam cut out various shapes or a figure that can be completed using a combination of shapes. Now create or use the cut outs for the kids to insert into the empty spaces. It would be fun to make figures that would need different shapes to complete.
It would be fun to be able to include everyone when playing Math number games because it would allow anyone to participate in the game whatever his/her skill level is. Besides playing together makes all of us become kids again aside from teaching our kids new concepts and motivating them to practice whatever concepts they have already learned.
There are a lot of math number games that you can design or devise where everybody in the family can join in. Some of these games can also be played by a group of friends or classmates to test how well they have understood their Math lessons. Imagine how it would be like when your kids truly enjoy these games and beg for more!
